The Middle School football team continued their undefeated season, moving to 7-0, as they rolled over Cowanesque Valley 50-18 Thursday night in Wellsboro.
Cole Cavanaugh ran the second play of scrimmage in for the Hornets. Collin Pietropola would make the first of his extra point attempts. Pietropola would be perfect on his attempts for the night. Quarterback Quinn Henry would hit eighth grade receiver Caleb Tennis for the Hornets second touchdown of the night. With the extra point, it was quickly 14-0 Hornets. Dalton Prough returned a punt to the one yard line, where Chase Moser punched it in for the score. The score would be 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was much more Hornet dominance, as Henry connected with Moser for a touchdown pass. The extra point attempt had a missed snap, but everything was going the Hornets way as Parker Mann picked up the snap and threw to Pietropola for a two point conversion. After a three and out series by Cowanesque, 7th grader Robert Brown blocked a punt that was picked up by Chase Moser and returned for the score. At this point it was 36-0 Wellsboro.
Cowanesque would return a kickoff for a touchdown, but the Hornets offense went right back to work with a Quinn Henry run for a score. Cole Cavanaugh would finish the scoring for the Hornets for the night with his second run of the night. The score was 50-12 at half time.
The second half was quality time for the Hornet reserves. They played a solid half, giving up one score to the Cowanesque offense. Defensive standouts for the Hornets were middle linebacker Nick Ingerick and Tackles Kyler Rice and Zack Scolari.
The Green Hornets try to finish their undefeated season as they travel to South Williamsport on Halloween night to take on the formidable Mounties. Kickoff time is 5:00 p.m.
