J.V. Hornets Suffer Loss to Troy
By: Ed Weaver / September 9, 2008
The J.V. Hornets suffered their first setback on the season, as they lost to Troy, 20-14. Turnovers plagued the Hornets, who trailed 7-0 at halftime, but bounced back on a long offensive drive in the third quarter to go on top of Troy 8-7.
Troy was able to score twice more in the fourth quarter from turnovers, but the Hornets went down with a fight as Sophomore Quarterback Nick Saniga found Sophomore Receiver Ethan Callahan wide open in the back of the end zone to pull within six points of the Trojans. However, Troy was able to recover the ensuing onsides kick, and held on for the win. With the loss, the J.V. Hornets drop to 1-1 on the season.
The J.V. team will be back in action on September 22 at Wyalusing.
