Four Hornets Named To NTL All-Star Football Team

Four members of the Wellsboro Varsity Football team were named to the NTL Large School Division All-Star team on Wednesday, December 27.
Senior Hayes Campbell, junior Ryder Bowen, and sophomores Hayden Stevens and Jonathan Carl were all nominated to the team. Campbell was selected as a 1st team defensive end and 2nd team tight end, Bowen was a 1st team linebacker and 2nd team running back, Stevens was a 2nd team offensive lineman, and Carl was a 2nd team punter.
Campbell was Wellsboro's leading receiver with 32 catches for 510 yards and a touchdown. Defensively he was 2nd on the team with 73 tackles and led the team with 2 pass deflections.
Bowen was the Hornets leading tackler, making 82 stops while making an interception and recovering 2 fumbles. He also was the team's leading rusher with 597 yards on 126 carries and 7 touchdowns.
Stevens helped anchor the offensive line that rushed for 3.1 yards per attempt and 84.6 yards per game (846 yards on 277 attempts).
Carl punted 41 times for 1,495 yards for an average of 36.5 on the year. His longest punt of the season was 54 yards.
"I'm very proud of all of our selections," said head coach Matt Hildebrand. "These played worked very hard and are very deserving. I am especially proud of Hayes and what he was able to do this year. Looking to next year I hope to have even more selected to the all-star team."
