JV Hornets Edged Out By Canton, 28-22

Canton edged Wellsboro 28-22 in JV football action in Canton on Monday night.

Sophomores Derrick Blasz, Mason Abplanalp and Colton Hauser all scored for the team.

"I was really proud of our efforts tonight," coach Bryce Bitner said. "We started off rough but we fought and clawed our way back. Although we came out with a loss on the scoreboard, I thought we really stepped up and played well for our first game. Our boys showed a lot of resilience to fight back like that. We definitely made mistakes and had some first-game jitters, especially our new guys, which is expected. I was proud of how they settled right in and started to play ball as the game went on. I'm looking forward to getting back on the field and seeing them make more gains."

Wellsboro (0-1) is at home against Loyalsock on September 14.
