Senior Max Mascho and junior Reed Richardson rushed for a combined 5 touchdowns to lead Wellsboro to a 41-13 Homecoming win over Wyalusing Friday.

This is the Hornets' third straight Homecoming win and their 10th in their last 11 games.

"It's good to get a win. We got a lot of guys into the game tonight and they executed very well," head coach Matt Hildebrand said following his 88th career win. "You got to hand it to Wyalusing, they don't have a lot of guys but they fought the entire game and put two scores on us in the second half. The goal at the end of the day is to get a win and we were able to do that."

Wellsboro's offense got off to a quick start, just like last week against Towanda, as they scored on their opening drive. The Hornets put together an 8-play, 56-yard drive, highlighted by a 25-yard pass from junior Griffin Morral to junior Kody Enck, and a 17-yard run by Mascho. Mascho later punched the ball across the goal line from 2 yards out to give the Hornets' the lead. Enck intercepted a pass on the Rams' first drive, giving Wellsboro back the ball on the 17. Two plays later it was Richardson's turn to find the end zone. He struck from 17 yards out, giving the Hornets a 14-0 lead following the extra point by sophomore Maddon Mascho.

The Hornets scored on their third possession after holding Wyalusing to four yards on six plays. This drive the Hornets went to the air as Morral connected with brother, freshman Grady Morral for 12 yards, then found Mascho for 12 more to the Wyalusing 11. Following a 5-yard run by Morral to the Rams' 5, he connected with Enck for the Hornets' third score on the night, pushing the lead to 21-0.

Again, like last week at Towanda, Wellsboro's defense came away with a safety. Following the Wellsboro score, the Rams took over at the 20, but a block in the back penalty moved them back to their 10. They ran three plays for 0 yards and were forced to punt. The snap went over the head of punter Matthew Ferguson and out of the back of the end zone, making Wellsboro's lead 23-0.

The Hornets turned right around and scored again on their ensuing drive. Enck made a 26-yard run down to the Rams' 3-yard line where Richardson capped the drive a play later, making it 29-0. Wellsboro put together one more scoring drive before the first half ended. This drive lasted 11 plays, four minutes and 13 seconds, and covered 63 yards. Wellsboro turned back to their run game as Richardson and Mascho traded carries. Mascho ripped off a 31-yard run, then Richardson broke free for 14 before scoring from 3 yards out to make it 35-0 with 2:27 to go.

Wyalusing started the second half with the ball, but fumbled on the opening kickoff, which the Hornets recovered. Seven plays and 44 yards later Mascho punched it in for the final time on the night, giving Wellsboro a 41-0 lead.

Wyalusing scored twice during the second-half mercy rule.

Mascho led Wellsboro with 93 yards on 12 carries and 2 scores while also catching a pass for 12 yards. Richardson finished with 13 carries for 88 yards and 3 scores. Enck ran twice for 28 yards and caught two passes for 30 yards and a touchdown. Senior Ethan Keane also caught 1 pass for 9 yards.

"We wanted to make a point to be able to run the ball," continued Hildebrand. "Last week we did a good job and we wanted to build upon that. I was really happy how we ran the ball, the offensive line did a great job tonight. I don't know where that weather came from, that was unexpected, we had to alter the game plan a little and run more than we planned coming in."

Morral finished 5-of-10 through the air for 63 yards and a score. The touchdown was the 33rd of his career.

Richardson added 7 tackles, sophomore Colton Hauser made 8 stops, junior Colton Reese made 5 tackles and junior Keegan VanZile had 3 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.

Conner Earle carried the ball 19 times for 71 yards and scored both Wyalusing touchdowns.

The win is the Hornet's second straight, improving them to 3-5 (3-3 NTL Large School Division). The Hornets hit the road next Friday to square off against South Williamsport.

"South Williamsport is a really big game for us heading into the end of year here and seeing where we end up in the district standings. This is a game we desperately need right now, we have to come out ready to play."
